corporate crime - Any lawbreaking act or omission by a corporation.
cybercrime - Any crime committed through use of a computer or the internet.
delinquent subculture - A deviant youth subculture with norms and values stressing toughness, manliness, and readiness to use violence to gain and keep respect, which promotes delinquency.
deviant behavior - Behavior that is inconsistent with deeply and widely held norms, expectations, or standards but is not necessarily unlawful.
National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) - A national survey of tens of thousands of Americans asking them if they, their household members, or their businesses had been criminally victimized, regardless of whether they reported it to police.
National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) - A more comprehensive and detailed crime data system intended to replace the UCR.
occupational crime - Lawbreaking behavior within the context of a legitimate profession.
official crime statistics - Crime statistics that come from government sources, primarily the police and the courts.
organized crime - People working together to supply an illegal product or service, for example, illicit drugs or illegal gambling opportunities, to the public and/or using violence to gain an unfair advantage in an otherwise legitimate business, such as killing competitors or damaging their equipment or merchandise.
political crime - Any crime committed with the intention of influencing politics or government.
self-report crime studies - Anonymous surveys in which people are asked whether they have committed various types of crime.
street crime - Crimes of violence like homicide, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault and relatively direct forms of property crime like burglary, larceny theft, and motor vehicle theft.
Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) - FBI-compiled crime statistics based on crime data supplied by thousands of law enforcement agencies around the United States.
victimless crime - Crimes where there is supposedly no victim, such as illegal drug use, illegal gambling, and prostitution.
white-collar crime - Criminal behavior conducted within otherwise legal businesses or professions.
