binge drinking - Drinking that brings the blood alcohol concentration level to 0.08 percent or more. For women this would typically involve consuming four or more drinks and for men five or more drinks during a period of two hours or less.

drug - Any substance, other than food or water, which affects the functioning, development, or condition of the body.
drug abuse - The use of a drug that is illegal or a legal drug in amounts or in ways harmful to the user or others.

gateway drug - A drug whose use is thought to lead to the use of one or more other illegal drugs.

human trafficking - The use of force, fraud, or coercion to make a person commit a commercial sex act and/or the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude.

opioid epidemic - The dramatic growth in opioid drug use and deaths since 1999.

war on drugs - U.S. efforts to reduce illegal drug use by educating people about drugs, stopping the manufacture of illicit drugs, preventing the flow of foreign drugs into the United States, prosecuting and punishing those who sell or use illegal drugs, and providing treatment for persons addicted to drugs.
