rebellion - A violent or nonviolent effort on the part of a large number of people to resist the policies of or totally overthrow their country’s government or ruler.

revolution - A rebellion that results in the change of one or more basic institutions.

terrorism - The use of violence or the threat of violence to achieve a political goal.


W

war - Violent conflict between nations, between different groups, or between nations and groups.

war crimes - Human rights abuses that violate widely shared international standards of conduct during war.
