absolute poverty - Not having access to basic things, including food, clean water, clothing, housing, sanitation, health care, and education, needed to survive and maintain health and well-being.

culture of poverty - The concept that in response to long-term structural conditions like unemployment, minimum wage jobs, and poor-quality schools, poor people develop a subculture of values, norms, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that help them adapt to their situation.

homelessness - Not having a home to call your own and instead having to spend nights in homeless shelters, on the streets, or in makeshift shelters made of various discarded materials.

relative poverty - Having so much less in material goods and style of life than others that people are seen as “poor” in terms of social standards even if they do not suffer absolute poverty.
W
working poor - People who spend at least six months (or twenty-seven weeks) during the year in the labor force but whose incomes are still below the official poverty level.
