The book that accompanies this website is based on site visits to the twenty towns described by the author between June 2022 and February 2025. The information included in the book is also based on available published accounts and most of the chapters have been reviewed by archaeologists who work in and on these towns (see Preface). 

This website provides some additional information to support the narrative of the book. This includes, a table of the towns included in the book, a list of websites for each town site and information about three towns that are not included in the book.
