Chapter 24: Succeeding in work

In 1942, Winston Churchill famously declared:

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

This is how you should react to finally starting in work after a lifetime in education. You need to clarify/ negotiate your salary and conditions, work hard, build contacts, take responsibility and constantly plan for your next career step. Oh – and also, dress for the position you’re going for, not necessarily the one you’re in (i.e. smartly).
